IIABKC's 2009 Scholarship
Recipient Salina Larson was the proud recipient of the 2009 IIABKC Scholarship. Ms. Larson is a member of the 2010 graduating class from the University of Washington Bothell. Currently, she holds a 3.92 gpa and is a member of the National Honor’s Society. Prior to coming to the UW Bothell Salina started her education almost 9 years ago at Pacific Luther University, she was the first person in her family to go to college and was very excited to start that stage of her life. Unfortunately, the cost of a private school education and the burden of incurring thousands in student loans caused her to cut her college career short. She began working full-time and started a family, but she always had the desire to return to school. As her daughters grew older and she watched her peers get promoted out of administrative jobs and into management positions, she knew she needed to complete the dream she had set out for after high school. Going to school part-time she received an AA degree from Peninsula Community College. She moved to Bothell with her husband and children and made the decision to give up working full-time to work toward her bachelor’s degree. Salina has thrived at the UW Bothell, the IIABKC scholarship made her dream of a better life for her and her family possible.
